Healthy Hair

  • Did you know that your hair needs Vitamin E in order for it to shine?
You can get this much needed vitamin by incorporating brown rice, nuts, wheat germ and leafy green vegetables into your diet.
Remember, the more you wash your hair and the more styling products you apply, the greater the amount of buildup that adheres to your silky strands.
Every once in a while, forego the routine washing by twisting your hair up into a towel or piling it into a shower cap before you step into the shower.
  • Water
Water makes up one-fourth of the weight of a strand of hair. Moisture makes the hair supple, so make sure you get plenty of fluids. A key point is NOT to wait until you're thirsty. If you're thirsty, it means your body has already lost more water than it should have, and it's urging you to fill up the tank. Water not only hydrates your body, but helps keep your hair silky and shiny. Ideally, you should drink between eight and ten glasses of water a day.
  • Protein
Protein is the building block of hair, so a diet for a healthy hair contains an awful lot of protein! Protein will give the shaft of your hair more strength, and will reduce the likelihood of dame through snapping and splitting. You can get protein from foods like fish, meat, milk, cheese and cereals.
  • Minerals

Iron helps to carry oxygen to the hair. Without enough iron, hair and its follicles get starved of oxygen.  You can increase your iron intake by eating red meat and dark green vegetables, or by iron supplements.

Zinc builds hair protein which helps to prevent hair loss. Meat and seafood are the foods highest in zinc.

Copper is involved in the pigmentation of hair. You can optimize your natural color with a diet with plenty of copper. Who needs hair dye and fake color! Shellfish, liver, fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds and meat are all high in copper.
  • Vitamins

Vitamin A will give you a healthy scalp, because its great for the skin! You can get vitamin A from foods like vegetables - in particular, in carrots.

Vitamin B and C are important for good circulation, hair growth and hair color. If you ensure that you have enough vitamin B and C, you'll have strong, supple strands of hair that do not split. You can get these vitamins from eating foods like fruit, vegetables, cereals, eggs, milk and bread.

10 Teen Beauty Tips

1. It is a good idea to remember that your skin needs to breathe. It is important to keep your skin as natural as possible- so try and keep makeup as minimal as possible and use it only for special occasions like parties.

2. If your face is usually dry: Before you shower, apply a rich moisturizing mask or thick layer of moisturizer. The moist heat helps the mask plump up fine lines and creases temporarily. Apply a heavy layer of petroleum jelly to lips. At the end of the shower, use a warm damp washcloth to gently massage off both treatments, and then use a naturally made loofah to bring out a natural, healthy glow.

3. If your skin is naturally oily: Use toner before and after you get out of the shower, before, to clean off any oil that has risen to the surface during sleep, and again when you get out to take off any oil that has surfaced from the heat of the water.

4. Play up your lips or your eyes, never both, if you are wearing heavy eye makeup, go for  lips with just a bit of gloss. Prefer the drama of dark lipstick? Keep face light (stay away from heavy blush) and wear only mascara on your eyes and a light eyeshadow. Don't heavily line your eyes. Play up both and you'll look like a clown.

5. Dark tones are applied at the edge of the lashes, the soft colors are used to illuminate the area inner eye. During the day neutral colors are preferred (gray, brown, black, pink, beige).

6. Bronzed skin will feel good in deep tones, and white skin will look better with pastels.

7. For green eyes: the most flattering colors are ocher, brown, earth and night mauve or pink.

8. For blue eyes: the gray, sandish, and yellow gold.

9.To brown eyes: the ocher-yellow, salmon pink, brown, copper and even the blue.

10.To the dark eyes, light gray, smoke, and rose tones.
